Clean Up Help Needed

Can you spare 90 minutes to help our league?

We need three groups of volunteers to help install turf in our new batting cages and clean up in and around the press box.

All work will take place Saturday morning at Westgate. One group will work from 7-8:30; two groups will work from 8:30 – 10:00.

No special skills needed! For more info or to sign up, visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0f45a8ac2eabfa7-westgate

Baseball Beyond the Fall

New Chances to Keep Playing

Our fall season may be nearing its end, but your players can still enjoy baseball! Diamond Heroes—one of our partners and sponsors—is offering HitTrax Leagues and Skills Clinics that can help keep skills sharp and even help you cover those upcoming days when school is closed.

And, if you mention that you are part of FCKLL, you can get a 15% discount!

The HitTrax Leagues start November 2. Form your own team of 2-5 players or sign up individually and be assigned to a team. The league will run for four weeks, with playoffs on the fifth week.  Cost is $400 per team, or $100 for individuals seeking a team.

The Skills Clinics will take place during the day on Nov. 5 and 6, when Falls Church Schools will be closed for Professional Days. Players will work on throwing, hitting, and fielding.  The Fundamental Clinic for players age 6-11 will run from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The Advanced Clinic, for players age 12 and older, will run from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. The cost is $60.

For more information on either of these programs, please visit the DiamondHeroes website. And be sure to thank them for their sponsorship and for helping run our fall instructional program.

FCKLL Wins Grant!

Grant Helps Pay for New Batting Cages

Our league has known for some time that adding batting cages to the Westgate fields would provide facilities vital to our kids' ongoing development. Our league also knew that batting cages would come at a steep cost.

Now, that cost has been significantly reduced: The Falls Church Kiwanis Little League won a $10,000 grant from the Delta Dreams Grants, run by Delta Airlines and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation. The money will be used to help pay for the new batting cages and reduces the amount the league otherwise would have drawn from savings.

That, in turn, means we are better positioned to pay for additional facilities and investments we may need.

We would like to thank Delta Airlines and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation for their generosity. We also want to thank the members of our board who worked so hard on preparing and filing the application for this grant. Thanks to their efforts and careful stewardship, our league is well positioned for the future.
